What we offer

How we help

A focused set of services for what we see most — sciatica, back and neck pain, headaches, stiffness, vertigo, and shoulder pain — matched to what you actually need.

Chiropractic Care

Gentle, precise adjustment of the spine and joints. On most visits Dr. Brown works the surrounding muscles by hand first, then adjusts — the two together are the core of care here.

Corrective Exercises

A short set of home exercises matched to your problem areas, so progress holds between visits.

Lifestyle Advice

Personalized guidance on the daily activities to modify or avoid, so you can keep living fully without aggravating your condition.

Nutrition Guidance

Down-to-earth nutrition advice to support your recovery and everyday health — simple suggestions, not a rigid program.

Dr. Jacob Brown, DC, chiropractor at Active Chiropractic of Cadillac in Cadillac, Michigan

Meet your chiropractor

Dr. Jacob Brown, DC

Dr. Brown has been in practice since 2006, and in Cadillac since 2015. He's known for a gentle touch, but the real constant is that he listens first and builds the plan with you and for you.

Most of his care pairs hands-on muscle work with chiropractic adjustment. He's also straightforward about fit: if he thinks he can help, he'll say so — and if he doesn't, he'll tell you that and point you toward someone who can. It's a small office by design, so you see the same doctor every visit.

A 2006 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Brown is a member of Northern Michigan Care Partners (the Wexford PHO), the region's physician organization.

What to expect

Care here is collaborative, and no two plans look the same — here's how it generally flows.

  1. 1

    Your First Visit

A thorough evaluation. Dr. Brown listens to your history, examines what's going on, and talks through your goals.

  2. 2

    A Plan That Fits

Together we decide whether you need a short, focused course of care or something more extensive — shaped around your feedback and goals.

  3. 3

    Care Built Around You

We structure your treatment around our collective input, typically pairing hands-on muscle work with adjustment, and adapt as your body responds.

  4. 4

    As-Needed or Ongoing

Once you're feeling better, it's your call: some patients come in only as needed, while others choose to continue with regular wellness care.

I started seeing him after a severe head injury… Dr. Brown was very meticulous in his thought and care of approach. He is great at hearing where I'm at & how I've been feeling as we begin each session; he is very kind & gentle in how he helps to bring alignment to my body. Most of all, he is reflective and consistent in his practice, kindness and genuineness.

Good to know

Common questions

Do you accept walk-ins?

Sometimes. Existing patients can often be seen as walk-ins, and while new patients are best scheduled, we can frequently get you in the same week. To be sure of a time, call or text (231) 468-3777, or request an appointment online.

What happens on my first visit?

Your first appointment is an initial comprehensive evaluation. Dr. Brown listens to your history, assesses your needs, and explains your options before building a treatment plan tailored to you.

Is it normal to be sore after an adjustment?

Some people feel a little sore for a day or two after a visit, especially when the appointment includes muscle work — it's similar to how you feel after a new workout, and it usually fades within 24–48 hours. It tends to lessen with each visit. If soreness lasts more than a couple of days or gets worse instead of better, call or text the office — that's something Dr. Brown wants to know about.

Can I complete my paperwork before I arrive?

Absolutely. You can fill out your new-patient intake forms online ahead of time, so your first visit stays focused on you rather than paperwork.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Comfortable clothes you can move in — that's it. You stay fully dressed; there are no gowns. Avoid anything stiff like heavy jeans or a dress with a back zipper if you can, but if you're coming from work, whatever you're wearing is fine.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?

No. In Michigan you can book directly with a chiropractor — no referral from your family doctor is needed. Just call or text (231) 468-3777 and we'll get you scheduled, usually within the week for new patients. (If you plan to use insurance, some plans have their own coverage rules — it's worth a quick check with yours.)

What conditions does Dr. Brown treat?

Dr. Brown takes a measured, in-scope approach to care — no exaggerated claims, just honest guidance grounded in two decades of experience with musculoskeletal conditions. He regularly helps with sciatica, back and neck pain, tight or sore muscles, headaches, stiffness, vertigo, and shoulder pain. Most of his care pairs hands-on muscle work with chiropractic adjustment. He’s straightforward about what he can and can’t treat: if he believes he can help, he’ll tell you — and if he doesn’t think he’s the right fit, he’ll tell you that too, taking as much pride in the cases he refers out as the ones he takes on. And if there are areas you’d prefer he avoid, he will. Read more about how he approaches sciatica, vertigo, shoulder pain, headaches, and neck pain.

What if chiropractic isn't right for my problem?

Then Dr. Brown will tell you — plainly, and usually at the first visit. Some problems need a physician, physical therapy, or imaging before they need an adjustment, and pretending otherwise wastes your time and money. If he's not the right fit, he'll point you toward who is.

What does a visit cost?

A typical follow-up visit runs about $35–$45 for an adjustment, or $60–$75 when it includes hands-on muscle work. A new-patient first visit — exam and treatment — is typically $110–$160, depending on how involved the evaluation needs to be. These ranges are based on the fee schedules Medicare and Michigan Blue Cross actually use, and you'll always know your cost before treatment begins. See our Pricing & Estimates page for details.

What are your office hours?

Monday through Wednesday, 9:00–12:00 and 2:00–6:00; Thursday, 9:00–12:00 and 2:00–5:00. The office is closed Friday through Sunday.
